Edwin Edwards of Louisiana once stated that the only way he could lose an election was if he were caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy. Welcome to Florida, where there are no disqualifying events at all, except to be an elected Democrat.

Just seen on Twitter: Two million dollars may sound like a lot, but it has to be split three ways...

Nor is there anything hip about Maga. Unfortunately, drugs make one feel as though you are the smartest,… etc in the room.

This story has become almost painful to me: I have such a visceral hatred for hypocrites like this. As as as I'm concerned, the only thing I want to hear about the Zieglers is their downfall. And why is it always the rabid Christians who get caught this way. Does GOD stand for Gay On Downlow?

I’m sick of idiotic people who deny what’s playing out right in front of them. And those so ignorant that they live in outer space.

I can’t take it. Today a woman asked me quote, “Why are Democrats trying to scare us about fascism? France, Italy and Germany are doing fine with their fascist governments. So will we.”

It’s like trying to converse with the brain dead

PLEASE tell me you're joking.

I wish I were joking. I’m in the heart of MO Trump country so I shouldn’t have been surprised. When the big, pink Trump elephant left the business district for a new spot further down Highway 67, I thought there might be hope. How wrong I was!

I’ve always been an Independent and have cast some Democratic votes I’ve regretted, but on the local level. But now, Independents can’t afford to cast votes for Republicans, no matter what they say they intend to do. This crisis calls for us to stand for democracy and vote accordingly.

So sorry you’re stuck with the SC motley crew. But living in Missouri, I know how you feel.

I was dumb enough to vote for Hawley as an Independent. However, that’s better than being stupid. I’m told you can’t fix that. So I have amends to make.

Now you see how we ended up with the likes of Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt. I take responsibility for my part in turning Hawley loose on an unsuspecting America. I will definitely right that wrong next year. Then I’ll be in search of a place where political discussions make sense and voters focus on logic.

kdsherpa's avatar

How are you responsible for Hawley? (I've got Miss Lindsey and Sen. Scott + Rep. Nancy Mace here in Charleston, SC. But I wont accept responsibility for any of 'em!)

If I wasn't a native Floridian, I would swear this story was from a Carl Hiassen novel.

“Great play, Christian. Amazing. Let me get this right…...You’re accused of rape and sexual assault, and you’ve admitted you videotaped the crime, and your role model to defend your actions is...Donald Trump? The same Donald Trump who was found to have raped E. Jean Carroll and has been accused by dozens of other women of sexual misconduct?

You must admit, it’s a smart play! Look how well it’s worked so far for Trump? This scandal could put Christian in the running for VP.

Make no mistake, in Today’s GQP, there is no such thing as bad publicity; just publicity!...:)

Well, how deep do the waters really go with Putin, Epstein, etc? People 'own' each other and control each other. This will be untangled. Let's protect the vulnerable. Rape is violence/evil.

Spot on article. I'm sorry I don't remember the original source, but this situation reminds me of what someone said about Trump supporters behavior: they don't feel shame, they feel powerful.

In for 250 pounds, in for a penny. trump's complete lack of conscience and morality has managed to trickle down the way tax cuts for the rich don't. However, there's a reason that a man who has spent his life time of criminality, artifice and scamming gets away with his brazen disregard for laws, protocols and civility; he is an extremely experienced con artist.

In that sense, trump is Col. Kurtz lording over his domain in isolation. It would be impossible for anyone to catch up without repercussions and to attempt to do so in a way that is not in service to his dictatorial designs will not be rewarded. Note that it is the RNC that has drained its coffers and his cult their mad money to prop him up during his legal battles. Not only will that not be the case with lesser beings, but he will certainly not intervene on anyone's behalf without getting more in return.

But this is Florida where Ron DeSantis, neck in neck with Texas for hypocrisy and amorality in the name of Jesus. We'll see if the Zieglers can brazen it out and stay implanted or will as they should be kicked to the curb.

There are some rumblings but we need a volcanic response to save our democracy.

A $2 million dollar payout? I guess he wants his cut of the grift in advance since I’m guessing neither of these horrid people are qualified to do anything else. BTW, you know Trump will give this monster a pass. I hope he goes to jail.
