Matt Gaetz Pulls Out...For Once (Pun very much intended)

As I was writing something quite different, Matt Gaetz went down in flames.

It’s a disaster for Donald Trump…the first of many and a crack in the bullshit armor of his phony tough guy image.

The real humiliation here isn’t just that Gaetz didn’t get confirmed. Frankly, Matt’s chances for an affirmative Senate vote were on life support the moment Trump blurted out his name on Truth Social, the Rodong Sinmun of MAGAland. Matt is a degenerate, and we’d only seen the greasy tip of the iceberg with the documents and witness testimony revealed to date.

It wasn’t just that that Trump didn’t spring to his defense or declare he’d name Gaetz in a recess appointment — though, in failing to do so, Trump meaningfully reduced the power of that threat.

It wasn’t just the uneasy realization that the same party that routinely loses its damn mind over Kamala Harris not turning over McDonald’s pay stubs from the 1980s seemed curiously indifferent to Matt Gaetz, sex trafficking and prostitution.

And of course, the same party that screams “pedophile” at every political opponent was utterly silent on Matt Gaetz trafficking teenage hookers out of the country for drug-fueled sex parties.
