Technically, Rick's core ideology is classical liberalism. That means he believes in free markets, limited government and liberty as the highest value. He was never a religious or cultural conservative. He was more concerned about low tax rates and regulation than crawling into somebody's bedroom to spy on their sex life. And that hasn't changed since he had his Road to Damascus moment with Trump. They're just less of a priority for him right now than preserving the rule of law. Trump is also an uber-statist, not a conservative, willing to use the government against citizens in ways that he has always consistently opposed.
And Rick would have made a helluva lot more money and along with his family, endured a helluva lot less abuse, if he had gone along with his fellow GOP ad consultants and gotten on the Trump Train. That he didn't amounts to noble self-sacrifice for a principle.
