Love ya Rick, I really do- the DNC consultant class needs to be swept away YESTERDAY and replaced by all the cold, calculating, “Just win, baby!” ex-Republican strategists like you; but that being said climate change is not a “luxury culture war issue” like the trans debates are- climate change is an existential crisis that hangs over every other important issue like The Sword of Damocles, much like the fear of nuclear annhilation during the Cold War was; it’s not just expensive diesel and fertilizer that’s screwing the American farmers and causing energy usage to exponentially spike due to out-of-control superheated summers- both these ‘economic’ issues are directly affected by an ever- warming planet; you think the economic outlook is bad now? Shit, just wait until climate change gets out of our range to do anything about it- the droughts that are going to grab headlines this summer due to a climate change fueled ‘el nino” are going to look like grade school recess compared to the environmental ravages that are potentially coming our way……as for the younger generations “not giving a shit” about climate as compared to economics s issues- well the millennials and Gen Z know how to walk and chew gum at the same time in that they can both be existentially concerned about getting a living wage-paying job and affordable housing while ALSO understanding that out-of-control climate change is going to exacerbate all these issues to the -nth degree going forward; I mean, the millennials and first half of Gen Z that staged all those unreported-by-the-mainstream-media climate school walkouts, climate marches and fossil fuel divestment drives aren’t now just saying, “Ih, fuck it, I don’t care anymore”…….as for the boring, predictable boomers and gen x’ers who only vote on economic issues, the climate change issue needs to be framed as an economic issue that’s going to absolutely SWAMP all other issues; ultimately, I’m for whatever messaging strategy works, but it HAS to be addressed…….,,..
Rick, I'm so glad I didn't know you as a republican. I don't think that I would enjoy your content as much as I do now. 😆 I'm happy you're on our side of democracy!
After every crisis in a hospital setting, there are debriefings. Not so much autopsies, although those are done as well, to gather the facts. The DNC needed to autopsy this preventable defeat. They neglected to follow the facts. I fear that if Dems win in November it will only happen because Trump has driven this country into the garbage. I do not see anything improving within the party itself. My husband and I are now unaffiliated voters after five decades of being Democrats. This is our small way of protesting the abysmal leadership in the party.
Thank you, Mr. Wilson. I hope it’s online so I can read this autopsy of the 2024 election. I don’t like the rot in the DNC. They in my opinion did nothing to support Harris. When I get very bored at a Presidential Campaign I know the DNC is not doing enough to help their constituents and or candidates. Please subscribe to Rick Wilson’s Against All Enemies.
Well said Rick, of course you are right, and we need to fire Martin immediately. It's the economy stupid never worked better than it does right now. Once in power , we need to wield power
Please, Rick! What led us to 2024 was Republicans inability to convict him for the 1/6 impeachment proceedings. McConnell could have whipped up enough votes to convict. He already had 7! Had Mitch followed his oath to the Constitution, we would not be suffering through a deranged 2nd term of the mad one
The autopsy sure seems like fighting this war with an analysis of the last one. Modernizing WWI trench warfare did not help win WWII. 2024 was a result of COVID economic disruptions. 2026 is a fight to remain a democracy. Tearing down the only horse we have, the Democratic Party, five months before the mid terms seems counterproductive. But people will complain won’t they?
Because I am a mother and a grandmother, what’s happening to the earth’s climate is a flashing red light and a blaring siren for me.
But Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is always in operation. I am almost 79 years old; so, yes, I have some health issues. But in many ways, I have led a charmed life. Always a roof over my head, always food on the table, always someone who loved me. Multiple college degrees. Always had adequate healthcare.
I understand, I think, finally, that such a background can be a political liability.
Yes, we must address climate change. It is existential. But someone who doesn’t have housing, enough to eat, safety, a job, transportation, or access to healthcare or childcare will always be focused on their own most immediate needs. And that’s where we have to be.
Let me offer a slightly different take on this. "Identity politics" was a marvelous cover for corporate Democrats. A way to appear "compassionate" while concealing the fact that they--the Legacy Democrats™️--only serve the interests of the Top 10%.
As a progressive, I am sick & tired of being punched and ridiculed. I'm punching back.
It's lazy to blame progressives. Going back 11 years you could have listened to Bernie. And now anyone can listen to AOC. What do they hit on All The Time? Economic issues. The economic dismemberment of everyday Americans by the rich and powerful who have all the financial laws written to coddle them. Private equity, special interest lobbies, and a crooked tax code that built the billionaires and burdens them with <2% tax rates.
The Republicans are totally owned by the Top 1%. The only Democratic politicians who are not whoring for the rich are the progressives! The Progressive Caucus, the Black Caucus, and a number of candidates for Congress.
And FFS, Please Stop Punching Down on Climate BREAKDOWN. It is not a luxury issue, it's a threat to everything humans have done for 10,000 years, like agriculture. 62% of the lower 48 are in drought. Ruinous floods and wildfires. Dangerous air. Deadly heat. Not enough water.
We defeat Trump and then at some not yet determined point in the nearish future we are in another fight for survival. That's just effing brilliant.
I would tell ANY political strategist: if you want to get younger people on board? Do Not Minimize their environmental dread.
An unlivable economy and an unlivable planet. They may look like TWO existential crises, but once you start looking you can, I hope, see the connections.
Before the Trump 2.0 emergency, the geo-aero-hydro-catastrophe of it all was my focus. Then I heard Jamie Raskin say "We have to save democracy first." And considering my young climate heroes are at considerably greater & immediate personal/physical risk now from Trumpism, I know Raskin's right. But it will be a close-run thing.
Great Elephant in the Room, Rick. I pray that Democrats understand their single important issue is the economy. Hell I understand it and I am a donor. But I have to curb donations due to my economic situation. The DNC best not blow this because nobody is made of money. And everyone is freaking out, because of it.
Some tough love for Democrats, Rick. It does sting but it hurts so good. Hope more in the Democratic leadership listen to you and boot out the consultocracy. “🎵It’s my party an’ I’ll cry if I want to… 🎵”
I really hope they listen to you this time. Your ad was perfect.

If he had released his own tax returns like all other presidents there wouldn't be any need for them to be leaked

Thanks Rick: Spot on. Wake those democrats up. They have got to get out there and get loud and proud.

Amen. Charlie. They call it the climate emergency for a reason.
Thank you, sir 🫡

We have to learn these lessons, but we need to focus on now. Someone get Ben on the phone.
