Rick,

Haven’t you, by now, had enough of making with bold certainty, proclamations that soon prove to be wrong?

Thank you for being an understanding sort.

The abuse of power is being shown up by the media and I suspect the administration's next move will be to censor the news, just shut it all down. Hegseth has shown himself to be a nasty incompetent bully who cannot stand being called out. First Amendment soon be suspended due to wartime exigencies, I warrant. Bye-bye, Free Speech, hello Newspeak.

Leigh Blake's avatar

Prevarications galore...it's just more of the same...the lies the "misdirections"... and the justifications that this felon lead regime press on all of the American People..just serve to "confound the science" of our knowledge... ( To the tune of " hello darkness my old friend") ...It's just more slime..Thanks Rick...

LStrong's avatar

I suspect that Trump is irrationally blaming Hegseth for the lack of Big Beautiful Complete Destruction of Iran’s nuclear program. Mundane actual reasons such as Trump’s own big mouth, the geology of the targets etc won’t matter to Trump. He ignored reality, didn’t wait for an assessment, shot off his big mouth and now wants to blame others. Hegseth’s hissy fit is his attempt to emote his way out of Trump’s penalty box. He’s putting on a show for an audience of one.

No one is dissing the troops. They delivered their payload successfully. It’s not their fault that there was no full dismantling of Iran’s stockpile. That’s squarely on Trump and his big mouth. Pete’s just running a distraction for Trump’s failure to do anything right.

I think many reporters could be forgiven if they take joy in chronicling it when SecDrunk is fully back in the bottle and residing on Desolation Row.

The other thing Rick exposed is that the next Amendment that will be neutralized is the First Amendment, which protects freedom of the press. They already have legalized mass population reduction by loss of citizenship. So, the next enemy in the sights are "our brave men and women" in the press corps. Not only will freedom of the press be destroyed, that silly old Establishment Clause will be further collateral damage. ... seems to be working like clockwork, the destruction of our nation. Will we fight like hell to save our country? Can we?

Leigh Blake's avatar

Fight like hell...Is this a figure of speech...or an actual cry for warfare.?? ..We are ALL so frustrated by the slowness of overcoming this ILLEGAL regime...But as it's panning out I can see years of pushing against these fascists...remember Germany...and how long that took. In our "SECRET" moments we all wish for the demise of these traitors..n'est pas??

Christine Stevenson's avatar

As a Canadian watching the ongoing horror show of American politics, I’m just asking, why the hell is there no legal clear process for removing a person in the presidency who is so obviously unfit for the task? I think that is the saddest part of all this, we and the whole world have witnessed a supposed democratic country put on display how disfunctional the whole government is that unable to prevent a criminal to run for office, to be voted into office under such strange voting changes at the last minute, and then to so easily dismantle the necessary institutions of governance, like having congress totally sidestepped, the entire senate obedient to one person, is incredulous to other democratic countries. How will the world ever trust American again? Removing immigrants, on whose shoulders whole industries have been built. So to cover the shortage of workers, now in Florida laws have changed to allow 12 year olds to work full time in agriculture! is stepping back into the pre Victorian period of England.

Leigh Blake's avatar

OH!!! GOD!!! YES!!! It's all that I yell!!! With this regime being ALLOWED to destroy us...What the heck are we waiting for??? YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT!!! This NEVER should've happened...Obviously Our sysytem IS NOT PERFECT.. BLESS YOU Dear Canadian Friend Christine.. This freak felon has been known to be a grifter, scammer and just general monster from his beginnings...over twenty years ago...or even as far back as 1987...in Russia.. You will note..the majority of OUR people here are UNEDUCATED...I AM SO SORRY...

SLMontgo's avatar

I am taking your question literally. " ... if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore" is what Loser Trump exhorted the J6 seditionists before sending them to destroy as much of our Congress as they could and also block the election certification that would document Trump's loss to Joe Biden.

This methodical assault on Democracy has been in the dark works since mid last century. MAGA are the spawn of The John Birch Society. I have much more to say, but in the interest of stopping when your point is made is a rule I try to mind.

Leigh Blake's avatar

YOU ARE CORRECT...I totally agree with you...it's getting "darker and darker"...Maga are exactly what the John Birchers were...Orange County, Ca.. ...in the 1960s and '70s..Such crap then...and NOW...

SLMontgo's avatar

If they are losing, why aren't we winning? Because we are collateral damage. The Heritage Foundation is the only winner here.

Hegseth needs to get serious about his job. He is no longer a talk show host. Is he auditioning to be co- press secretary as well? Trump thinks he has”his warrior” but unfortunately Trump and Hegseth’s tag teaming only comes across as exaggerated bs and makes them both look weak and silly.

Christine Stevenson's avatar

They cannot do the job, nether man has the intelligence or education to be capable of understanding the complexities of the role America plays in the world. No idea of a long game! . The whole government has be on an international joke!

karenwestcoast's avatar

Good lord, Hegseth is not well. I found his angry word salad about dem ‘boys’ and omitting female pilots very telling. He single-handedly demonstrated the need for DEI policies. He’s toxic and a neanderthal.

Christine Stevenson's avatar

Neadrathal! Love that descriptor.

The more he resists drinking the worse he's gonna get, and he's likely to fail big time and embarrass more than himself.

Bob McKeown's avatar

The classic dry drunk. Even worse in ways than the full-blown drinking alcoholic.

P A Williams's avatar

Because they're always angry, and resentful of not being able to drink.

LStrong's avatar

I’m not so sure that he’s dry. I hope that his wife gets rid of any mouthwashes with alcohol content.

Not sure why. I couldn't active the video. Not sure how do active it.

Trump has brought more shame on the US military than any other president. His pardon of convicted murderers under the concept of "they're trained killers" put all military personnel at risk. As we deport Iraqi and Afghanistan people who partnered with us to defeat their governments, and put themselves at extreme risk, the world watches and no one is going to step up and say "we'd be happy to help you."

I'm not always in approval of some of the missions the service personnel are assigned to, but they do their duty, and most of the time, act honorably. One of my late friends, a member of one of the airborne (air mobile) divisions, said that a unit oft referred to as "the Gary Owen division" (figure it out) didn't act so well at times in Vietnam. It happens. But most stand up to the standards of the services and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

This action by Trump was contrary to the Constitution and how we do things as a nation. We acted more as a flunky of Netanyahu than as a strong nation, said to say. Trump obviously only listens to the sources he wants to hear (Putin, Netanyahu, etc.) and disregards what the experts at the intelligence community, civilian and military, have to tell him. He probably still wants to believe that D-Day was at Calais, just as Adolph thought it would be.

I want our personnel to have the right tools for the job, and to be trained for the job. Unfortunately, too often we spend big money on fancy things, and not the money for maintenance (like jet engines) and equipment for ground personnel. GWB's Iraq War was full of that as soldiers got basic needs not from the military at times but instead from folks back home. Whether they be professionals or citizen soldiers, they need our support for their well being. But this crap that Hegseth is laying out is ridiculous. Eff him and the sheep he got caught with in a drunken fugue.

Now for my criticism of your description of the B-2 program. Yes, you were there for the portion of the program where deployment occurred. But the program started back in the early 1970s and went full scale development under Jimmy Carter.

As for Hegseth's comment about mission length. From the AFB in Missouri to the targets is about 6,800, minimal distance route (which they didn't take, Europe wouldn't want them to) but at the cruising speed of 560 mph, that would have taken them about 12 hours each way, with one slow down event for refueling before the actual mission run. (range of 6,900 miles) So you can figure that it took about 27 hours round trip. A B2 may not be the lap of luxury for distance, but it sure beats out the flight from the United States to the Middle East my brother-in-law did for Desert Storm ferrying his A-10 Warthog.

I feel for our uniformed personnel. They have a lunatic for a Commander in Chief and will be put at risk more and more to prove HIS manhood. Then those who lose their lives or are injured will once again be disrespected by him, as 'suckers and losers'.

Hegseth is a petty person whose only qualification was that he would bow down to King Trump. Beyond that, he's worthless, as is his master.

Leigh Blake's avatar

"Flunky of Netanyahu"...exactly...we're riding along...yelling and screaming and yet...what are we DOING??? Eff him is correct...Hegseth and the entire regime..No HONOR here..

I heard disrespect at full volume of our intelligence gathering people both on the ground in Iran and the pentagon, we need them to go around the executives of our media and dopey don. They need to be straight with us and tell it to the Congress who are the ones that should report to us. Sunday is coming and it will be a great day for some straight talk.

I'm old enough to remember when the GW admin complained about people asking questions about why we didn't find WMD in Iraq being told they don't support the troops or they're terrorist sympathizers or they supported the dictator Saddam Hussein. Trump and his gang of incompetents is taking a page out of that tired old playbook.

Hegseth looked like he rolled out of bed without having enough time to sleep off the drunk from the night before. My grandfather was an alcoholic; I recognize the short fuse, the hair-trigger temper. Make me wonder about his home life.

His poor wife. Isn’t he on marriage #3?

Thanks Rick, you have hit this nail on the head. “He Doeth protest too much” that’s this regimes mantra, blame the free press for Hegseth ineptitude and ignorance! I predict that DT will be sending Gabbard, Hegseth, and Rubio packing soon. CNN & NYT keep bri g the preliminary info out to the public, with additional information to follow as it becomes available. My opinion-the uranium was moved from Fordow to an undisclosed location prior to the bombing. Wasn’t it mentioned that a call to Iran prior to the bombing was made? Plenty of time to load this cylinders on the trucks and moved them!

Christine Stevenson's avatar

Trump cannot keep anything secret, he probably made some “hints” of threat on a phone call a few weeks earlier, and that was enough for the Iranians to take pre emptive action..
