I agree, Rick; I have no problem with the old duffers on the nostalgia circuit, Sha Na Na at the state fair, etc. The ones who become Phantom of the Opera self-parodies are the former superstars ending their careers with a residency in Vegas. Trump is in his Celine Dion phase right now (no disrespect meant to Celine Dion) and that is truly where legends go to die. No ad libs, no improvising, every performance blocked within an inch of its life and repeated verbatim nightly for months.

Amen, brother. Time to start planning for the aftermath. I think if we lean on our shared patriotism and history, our shared cultural commitment to democracy, we can get through this. Better than before. I really believe that. But it does require reconciliation. Not weakness, don't get me wrong. Consequences and justice are top of the list of things to do. But we need to try to bridge the divide whenever we get the chance.

Stalin savagely deported hundreds of thousands minorities, killed thousands he perceived as political enemies and intellectuals, and sent millions to gulags. And yet today, in some places in Russia, his statue remains..please, God, do not force Trump’s traitorous face on us even after he dies.
