When I joined Substack, my participation on YT diminished steadily to the point I sometimes don't even go there (on purpose) for several days at at time. I realize many creators are posting everywhere and I am taken to YT. Fine with me. My real purpose for dropping YT is its tightassed algorithm (if that's the correct word) regarding comments. I post comments without threats or cursing but they would be removed for no reason. I suspect they have proscribed words they filter for, such as "kill, murder, destroy, annihilate" and so forth. How do they expect us to talk about our national travesty without those words?
I get nearly all my news from YouTube. I'm massaged the algorithm to the point where I get the stuff I like and the few gross wingnut and shock sites that get through I can de-recommend. One thing I don't do is subscribe; Rick is the only site I've subscribed to. I don't subscribe to the people I like here, either, even though people subscribe to me on a regular basis. Please don't take it personally; I just I don't want notifications and I already get too much crap in my inbox. I want as small a digital footprint as I can manage.
YouTube comment sections are annoying. While the channel owners have control and can block people and remove comments, nearly all comment moderation is algorithmic. I routinely have posts deleted with no rhyme nor reason I can imagine. But I don't feel too badly about it because it's only YouTube comments and everybody's in the same boat.
Thanks Bob...It's nice to know you are there...you just explained why a post of mine we manipulated a few days ago... I was ass-tounded ( my new coined word) ...and couldn't believe that they could just take my post and make it theirs...
I enjoy posting on YouTube comments but the key to doing that is not being too involved with it. Some channels will delete your responses if you make "too many" in a subthread which can be extremely annoying. Certainly nothing like the enjoyment I get from posting here, where I don't have to watch my language or worry about how many times I respond to someone ;)
Great show I love both Katie Phang and Rick Wilson. I agree with you both 💯 about getting tough and stop thinking republicans who align themselves with DT are your friends. Push back
2 favors to ask. It's not just your video. It's others too. Please silence cell phones/watches/tablets before starting these. Can you turn them on vibrate? Oh...and others are pointing out to many: don't use Apple earbuds during the videos. There's bad feedback from those and they echo.
Thanks to both of you. This was the perfect length. In general? 1 can't go over 90 minutes. After that, ones attention wanders...kids or adult. (With or without ADD.) There's a reason Disney/Pixar, etc. try to limit movies to that length.
