I wonder where in the Bible Mike Johnson found the guidance for this murder bill.

The Old Testament, from Jehovah who was a jealous collective punishment fanatic.

Not to mention a sociopath.

So the Blasphemous Butchery Bill passed by, as LP sez, one stinking vote. (Unlike the Senate, there's no tiebreaking vote and a tie doesn't pass.) And two days after Gerry Connolly, RIP, croaks of cancer. Connolly, who beat out AOC for Oversight chair four months ago because, you know, seniority. Look, you all know me as a true-blue Democrat who often takes arrows of snark here in defense of my beloved Party. But this is getting fucking ridiculous.

No, I don't want to see the House overrun with zoomer social justice warriors. But for the love of all one might imagine is holy, can we _please_ start electing younger members.

Question: Please tell me why people who have more money than God insist on their right to another tax cut . The question the media should ask these folks is "when is enough, enough?" It is immoral to take from the poor to give to the rich. Christian values, my ass.

Christian values aren't Christian values. After Constantine converted and Christianity became hegemonic in the Roman Empire, all bets on the Prince of Peace were off. Christian doctrine has been used to justify the slaughter of infidels on the battlefield, slavery, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the burning of witches at the stake and the running of indigenous off their lands because the white man could use them better. That's from the OG liberal political philosopher John Locke, who couched the extermination of Native Americans in Biblical terms because he didn't want to be run out of England on a rail like the uber-snarky Thomas Hobbes.

Only some Christian denominations kept alive the true message of Jesus Christ in the social gospel. After they got over their butthurt at the Enlightenment, the Catholics became more or less good at this, although still leaving much to be desired.

My brother in snark Keith may be taking this a little far. He claims that if the Senate strips this provision out, which it is likely to do, or if any court including SCOTUS rules it unconstitutional, Trump can just ignore this and point to the House. I doubt that would work.

His A-block is otherwise fire. Our courts are indeed hanging by a thread.

In Mike Johnson's defense, the little guy just thinks we all need to find Jesus before we die, which means we better find Him really, really quick, apparently.

Gods this is horrific. Keith's promo for tomorrow's pod just dropped and apparently there's a provision in the Bogus Bestial Bill that prevents injunctions against Trump officials without posting a massive bond to cover government court expenses. Since the third branch is hanging by a thread already, that's the end of the rule of law right there.

Some mole or hacker has to get into Johnsonless's office or crack his firewall and post the full text of the bill online. Anonymous?

I have little faith that the committee staffers who cobbled together the language of the bill will do the right thing. They're True Believers and maybe more importantly, they're all young and can't imagine anything bad happening to _them._ I'd rather Anonymous or another hacker group rape Johnson's server and post the entire text of the bill online. Johnson won't even brief his own caucus on the Medicaid / Medicare cuts. That's immoral and as Americans, we cannot let that stand. To re-phrase a famous rallying cry, no tax cuts without representation. Our Framers would cheer those hackers on.
