I think we could have curtailed military drone shipments from Iran to Russia to support Ukraine by means other than targeted assassinations and targeting neighborhoods. Every girls school in Iran isn't an alleged Venezuelan drug smuggling boat foundering offshore.

Praying for everyone in harm’s way. This is a terrible war and we don’t want it.

Rick et al, the action is indefensible. I am going to take us back to a different time, and the Desert Shield/Desert Storm vote of 1991. Then Congress argued the need, and many of us watched that day to see the outcome (it was a Saturday). I remember one House member came in wearing a Tuxedo--he was on his way to his son's wedding and knew he had to be on the floor to vote. It was legitimate discussion, and a final decision.

I hope Congress comes back into town this PM and addresses what happened and takes the same position as was taken in 1991: the responsibility to determine if the US enters into military conflict rests with Congress. If Speaker Johnson sits on his hands and will not take action, it is time to vacate the Speakership and bring in Massey to lead the House. I believe Thune would entertain a war powers act vote. It needs to be in the next 24 hours. They can all fly into town.

I am extremely concerned about the armaments shortfall and the supply chains. What happened to the arsenal of democracy--or has that all gone by the wayside as Hegseth is too worried about not sending the brass to top rank schools or stopping Scout merit badges. Two other notes: 1. if the Iranians were planning on releasing the incriminating videos: I wonder if that pushed it forward, and, 2. heresy that the invasion was being discussed at DC watering holes on Friday evening.

these white Christian nationalists just started a holy war. The United States has not been more vulnerable since 911 because our justice department, FBI and national security apparatus are run by blithering idiots.

there will be terrorist attacks in the United States as a result of this section. And that will be Trump‘s excuse for imposing martial law.

He doesn’t care how many people die and how badly the American economy is damaged as long as he can maintain power

In Trump's demented mind, he fancies himself a wartime President now. Now he has even more emergency powers to make outrageous declarations like suspending elections. Or so he thinks. He becomes more dangerous as his popularity and power declines so he summons what he can to make it worse.

I’m pretty sure the regime in power in the USA would be just as monstrous as Iran if it wasn’t for how hard many of us are fighting to keep them from full blown power.

Thanks Rick: This despot make me want to vomit. Air power and bombs can not change ideas. This is just one stage of an operation to destroy infrastructure. Trump will have to put boots on the ground and like he says the young men and women will be coming home in body bags, Like the moron said things happen in war. You can bet your bottom dollar Donald Jr, Eric Trump or Barron will not be putting their boots on the ground. Steven Witkoff & Jared Kushner are negotiators?? No they are taking Trumps dictates to the Iranian regime. "We can do it the easy way or we can do it the hard way" Apparently you have ten days of munitions in stock. Drag Trumps ass into a two day interrogation about the Epstein files . The Generals can take care of the war for a few days. Where is little Pete in all this, sitting in a war room with his toy soldiers playing war games. .

Looks like Trump and Netanyahu are using Putin's playbook. 80 children (plus) killed in bombing of a girl's school.

That ought to endear (not endure)(sorry) us as conquering heroes to the Iranians.

smh

You know Trump will want to become Viceroy of Iran and then steal every drop of oil for his own wealth, just like he's trying to do in Venezuela.

Just remember to thank the Donald in two months time when prices skyrocket because of the Persian Gulf (hasn't Donald renamed it after himself, yet? or maybe the Eric Gulf?) has effectively been blocked and the last dying breaths of Iran are to devastate the region? Karma is a bitch.

I'm saddened to know that the Europeans allowed American aircraft to operate from there. Not a good decision.

Iran needed a course correction, but not from us, nor Israel, but instead, their own people. The hatred for America dates back 70+ years to when we overthrew an elected government and put the not loved Shaw in charge. This will only reinvigorate that enmity.

Generals knew Trump broke the Constitution, yet they still followed illegal orders

To be fair, the ayatollah did not present a 20 foot tall golden statue of Trump to the orange child molester. What else could the mobster monkey do?

Now, I hope it works with little damage or death. I hope That the Iranians can have the freedom and liberty they deserve and the tyrannical Iranian theocracy dies.

I hope the same for the Russians. That the Putin tyranny ends.

I hope American servicemen and women are safe.

I also hope we Americans can preserve our freedom and fight off the religious and oligarch tyrants wishing to subvert it.

I’ve heard this also. We have already expended or transferred a lot of our missile inventory. Such a war of attrition that can only be won by the adversary that plans for and actualizes the reality of using that inventory in anger. The arsenal of democracy has been under attack for a long time. Which is why fighting wars over and over again is a totally ineffective and immoral strategy.

And who benefits? I bet there are energy deals already positioned and Putin couldn’t be happier
