I sent this today to Ted Budd, an NC GOP senator, in response to his message replying to an earlier message from me:
Regarding your reply to me that begins "Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts regarding the Trump administration’s recent energy deal with Russia"...
Since you're a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and said Putin is "evil" and an "international thug," and that Russia ranks among the world's "forces of evil," I have a proposal for you:
Rather than wait for "any legislation regarding diesel imports from Russia [to] come before the full Senate," why don't you get the ball rolling to make that happen?
I was in rural Louisiana Two weeks ago. Not a MAGA hat, bumper sticker or lawn sign. The one vestige was a mini-billboard reading "Patriots for Trump," as tattered and moldy as a Burma Shave sign.
“In two years, his fat ass will slither down to Mar-a-Lago, where he’ll hold court without end, tweaking the noses of the party he once led and picking fights with his betters”
Sorry Rick, I don’t think that will happen. In 2 years, if he’s still alive, he will have become a drooling, incoherent, babbling blob of putrid stinking rotting flesh. In 2 years, his dementia will have progressed to the point where he won’t know who he is, the brain so riddled and diseased that to see him will cause one to look away. He will be nothing more than a vegetable, unable to speak, only to grunt or wail or cry like a baby, a picture of complete and utter insanity. There is no one on the planet more deserving of this miserable fate than him.
Somehow MAGA managed to survive after the 2020 loss and the insurrection. Even if we exceed expectations in the midterms, are we ever going to break out of the cycle of insanity, repair/stabilize, back to insanity? It's exhausting but underscores the importance of constant vigilance.
Quote honestly, I do not think Trump will survive long enough to slink off to Mar-a-Lago in two years . He looks and sounds like a dying wino, albeit with an ill-fitting, expensive suit. He is circling the drain. I have done autopsies on healthier-looking people. That being said, your analysis of the Republicans in Congress, his cabinet, and his supporters is spot on.
Rick, I hope you're right. But I am fearful and will be fearful until votes are completely in and the Blue Wave washes completely onto the shore. Then I will hold my breath again to see what horrible thing he has in store if he loses.
You talk like it's a done deal, Rick, especially the part about taking the Senate. I am not half as confident and assured as you, but if I had to bet my nonexistent farm on your predicted outcome, I am all in.
“Johnson spent three years as Trump’s most obedient instrument in the House, turning the chamber into a rubber stamp and sending members home whenever the boss needed cover.”
My god, the only saving grace I can say about Johnson is that he lies with the conviction of charismatic serial killer—which in the MAGA world, kind of makes him a good Christian; it’s all relative!
That said, this man still has delusions of grandeur and believes he’ll be speaker come January 3rd.
It’s that, or we are in for some serious election interference come next week. The most likely scenario, they refuse to certify certain results, and refuse to seat those democratic winners, as well as to sow overall chaos in the election process.
I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. And I like our chances in court. So unless Trump’s prepared to deploy federal troops in every state and officially stage a coup—I’d say come January, Johnson will be a distant memory, and relegated to the dustbin of history!….:)
Persistent skeptic here, especially when it comes to writing off MAGA.
Too many make a mistake focusing solely on Trump.
Trump is Captain Smith's iceberg, or maybe the top of a blackhead. There's so much worse below him, and they'll always have air, land and sea cover from Fox News. The FBI, DoJ and SC are his combo of the Maginot Line and the Great Wall of China
Accountability"? HAHAHAHAHA. Everyone will be pardoned. Everyone. Even his sons who he detests. Even Guilfoyle, because she knows where the bodies are buried
Did Karl Rove succeed in RedMap not with durable Republican majorities forever, but rather with hastening the evolution of the Republican Party to its current state by locking the GOP in the asylum with the lunatic fringe? As in, “I’m not locked in here with you. You are locked in here with me.” In viewing Democrats with such contempt, I think he opened the door to ever more extreme rhetoric and people.
Keeping my fingers crossed that you're vision for the future proves accurate.

I need your essays, Rick. They give me hope.

Only the good die young. This scumbag will outlive Methuselah.
Ah, beat me to it.
Love the script, Tears of laughter. Thanks, Rick.
I’d love to hear your take on the FBI being sent to seize voting machines and/or ballots, Rick. Meidas has a small piece on it.
Trump wears a box on his ass. What IS that, Rick?

Voted today! Felt great!
Saw a lot of women and people of color with Dem sample ballots in their hands. If you haven’t yet, GO VOTE!

But we'll still have Chuck and Hakeem
