Thank you Rick So chilling I went to a memorial candlelight vigil on Sunday night. It was small, we held LED candles but we sang peace songs. We sang for freedom and no more wars and for people “we just need a friend”, but underneath it all was our deep grief for a life sniffed out by a federal agent, an ICE officer using commando tactics that do not quantify justice. America wants justice for Renee Good and Justice for all
After what I have learned about ICE detention centers, I am reasonably certain that if I were in Renee Good’s situation, that I would do what she did and not get out of my car.
Because those facilities are not places where you can count on humane treatment. I have read about lack of sufficient water, rotten food, lack of bedding, lack of adequate sanitation, lack of privacy, extreme heat and cold. Denial of access to attorneys, family members, friends, clergy, medical care, or even to medications brought by family members to facilities. And mistreatment of members of Congress who have tried to provide legitimate oversight of those facilities.
So, if I had an ICE agent pulling on my door handle and screaming for me to get out of my car, and I saw a way out of that situation, you’d better believe I’d take it.
She did not run him over, drag him, or cause him serious injury. I’ve seen incident videos from several perspectives, and I did not see him hit. I never saw him knocked off balance. I never saw his feet leave the ground. Certainly, he was not dragged.
I believe she did the right thing. The smart thing. The problem wasn’t what she did. The problem was what he did.
Not only "got away with it" but about to be awarded maybe a million dollars through fund-raising activity. I wonder if any of his cohorts will notice this...
They are hoping to provoke one person to respond with violence so they can declare martial law and cancel elections—don’t be that person, don’t take the bait.
Thanks Rick for your tireless dedication and spot on commentary around all of the Trump illegality. I could feel the raw emotion coming from the screen today. I struggle to find ways to deal with the blatant lawlessness on display in Minneapolis and around the country, trying to find more ways to combat the creeping evil growing around us all. Holding protest signs and speaking out when and where I can seem so insignificant. Thank you for being on the front lines.

The killing, the recordings were there to juice their base. In their twisted minds there’s nothing worse than a post menopausal woman speaking up or a lesbian woman holding her ground.
They believe this content enthralls their supporters. Sickeningly, it may. We have to continually stand up and say this is sick and this is wrong.
Those of us not CURRENTLY in their crosshairs have to help keep those who are safe.
Things like 1) picking up kids from school 2) going grocery shopping 3) doing the Lowes, Target, or Home Depot runs.
It matters. We’ll never know when it’s our turn in the barrel.
As a post menopausal white woman, with a mild disability, I know I’m a juicy target right now. Many others will be targets soon as well.
The wonderful outdoor pool I normally use for water aerobics is closed temporarily for repairs.
This week, it’s beautiful weather where I live. I tried another available pool. It is adjacent to a Home Depot. ICE agents are parking in the gym/pool parking lot as a staging area for their loitering and other “activities” in the Home Depot parking lot.
I’ve chosen not to risk it. I’m too juicy a target for their content creators. Ugh
