Old person here grew up reading Science Fiction and was ready for computers, computer games and the WWW but the old people around me and the young people did not have a clue about this new toy. Educators where not prepared. Greed became the dominate value. Certain countries actually teach how to use the wonderful capacity of the web to learn and avoid the ugly awful side of the web. The young people who developed this new technology loved the technology but had no idea this new technology could be used for to manipulate the minds of so many. The old people only learned how to use Facebook and believed anything seen on the screen and still do.
Ah,,,ThanK you..I'm back.. Zuckerberg did offer a way for many of us to communicate...and we were not "in it" for just being swayed by various person's nasty comments . As a horticulturist , animal lover, nature lover, it was wonderful to be able to communicate with people on the 'same page' who loved this part of the world. There still are those who use it strictly for these reasons...including many creative agendas. It was so innocent. I was "usually" avoiding the areas that were involved with anger and hate. Eventually it was difficult to ignore the hate creeping in through trolls who just liked to either misconstrue or just make trouble.. My page which I'd created was " stolen" by some idiot and when I complained to Zuckerberg's staff they said they found "NO PROBLEM"...So I dropped this media 'event',,sad... it was fun!!
I'm old school and I like being old school. The internet is a sewer and I wish it would implode.
It has not done anything positive in my humble opinion. It is ruining people's lives, young adult's minds and self-esteem. All kids want to do is look on their screens. They don't know how to have a normal convesation. They don't read books. They don't analyze information.
They don't want to learn, they just want the answer.
I'm really ready to go back to the rotary dial phone and encyclopedias.
AI is already creating fake news. The A stands for artificial! What are we doing? Genuflecting to that which is not real. Why? Money. Power. Control. See money.

Mark Zuckerberg has never, ever cared about anyone but Mark Zuckerberg. That is the problem. His lack of humanity then passes on to those who worship.
Is there a way to render AI from becoming 'self-aware' ?
