Being convinced that I am on the “right side of history” has never felt so hollow and meaningless as it does now. The MAGA crew believes THEY are on the “right side of history” as well. What difference does any of it mean and what could “giving them hell” possibly even look like anymore? I feel thoroughly defeated and at the end.

At 16 I worked for McGovern — in Massachusetts! So exciting but such a dispiriting loss. And yet less than two years later Nixon leaves office in utter disgrace (except for the 27% of Americans who STILL feel he was given the proverbial shaft) and we in Massachusetts are overjoyed because — apart from DC — we were the ONLY state that McGovern carried electorally. It was like deus ex machina.

Could something like that happen here? I doubt it. Seeing Jack Smith wrap up the federal cases against Trump over the last couple of weeks has been one of the most depressing things politically I’ve ever seen in my life. And of course he’s at the top of their shit list to go after on January 21. It feels like we’re living under a perpetual cloud of gray depressing Orwellian dystopian horror. And I don’t see any of that changing over the coming months and decades. It will only get worse despite all Herculean efforts to the contrary…..

Happy Thanksgiving to Rick, his family and this entire wonderful community. I'm beyond blessed to have avoided this, but special thoughts to everyone with an Uncle Trumpy they have to deal with.
