Last night I read the latest essay by Professor Ealy explaining that after the day of rage he felt when the Supreme Court’s VRA decision was announced, that rage was supplanted by the need for concentrated, strategic planning to address this mess as we move forward. He called upon all democracy minded people to use our economic power writ large and avoid doing any kind of business with these states, as money and power are what drive these racist impulses. But he particularly spoke to Black athletes and their families about the choices they will be making when it comes to where they will bring their talents. If they leave these Confederate states for friendlier pastures they can exert real leverage. His article gave me some hope even as the spectacle of the racists in the Tennessee legislature, laughting in the faces of their Black constituents, hollowed out my soul. Your essay here gives me that same sense of hope that not far over the horizon the loss of Putin from the world stage will be the start of a great unraveling and realigning of political and economic forces around the world. That hope is buttressed by knowing you bring years of experience and knowledge to speculate about a world after the demise of Putin.
I read that essay by Ealy too (I am still cogitating on it) but I think that it isn't going to work. THe fact is that athletes and the programs at the big universities in the south are still going to be intertwined.
It is noble to think that this will shift the power of the NCAA powerhouses, but I, a non-sportsball person, doubt that the economics will prevent this.
The Jim Crow era south was really bad for the states' prosperity, but it made no difference to their policies. I don't see that working now either.
Maybe Shady Vance can make a Putin Pilgrimage with his usual deft touch, with Karolyin' as his First Paramour. The MAGA Temu Versailles collpases under the weight of its own silicone.
Oh Rick, thank you for this. I’m counting the minutes until this vision manifests. Trump Netanyahu and Putin have caused more suffering on this earth then every other human on it combined is my guess
Damn Rick....That was brilliant. Hoping you have a little Nostradamus in you (I started to write Nosferatu, but you're not like that...Right, Rick).....where's the smiley Emoji when you need it?
Rick it sounds too good to be true, but in Rick we trust. The only thing that bothers me is more than likely the orange brainless pig won’t be around to suffer for his sins.
Pungent top notes ("stings the nostrils") emanating from our present political clime ("like the urine of Satan after a hefty portion of asparagus") but thank you, Rick, for the robust rhetorical base notes with some optimistic heart notes.
I hate to wish anyone dead but this paints such a hopeful picture. You're giving me a moral conflict, and I was already conflicted over my emotions toward Trump and the possibility of his imminent demise. Now I do kinda hope he lives long enough for Putin to proceed him to the Very Hot Place.
Oh, Rick, I need something to hope for. It’s been a particularly awful, very bad no-good day. This beautiful article gives me hope. Say all the magic words. Spell all the spells. Make it so. So mote it be. Abracadabra. It is done. Thus Spoke Rickstradamus. ✨🙏🗡️🛡️🔪🏵️💫
Hope, hope, hope you're right...
May it be so!
Rick getting me aroused with this 1, this gave me a full chubby
Rick Wilson has the best words

I am in a very dark place.
Nice. Хай живе Україна!. Long live Ukraine! Love the scenario; Putin down, Trump to go. Nice.

A boy can dream.
I personally green light this forecast into reality. Let's go!

What a glorious post! I loved every word of this. Thank you for seeing through the darkness to the light on the other side!
