Rick, time for those of us who know what happens when women do not have control over their own body. This was my experience at age 18.

Chicago 1962 I am a student nurse at Michael Reese Hospital, a Catholic woman patient can’t use contraception, bleeding out from botched abortion, asking me to pray for her. Asking me to forgive her. For what? For being too poor to afford another child? We can’t go back to those days.

With her blood on my shoes, I go to waiting room, to tell her husband and children that mommy will not be coming home.

I want to scream and can’t.

So much of this depends on Trump's will; there really aren't any other MAGA candidates of national import that have his mojo. This weekend he was asked a question which uncharacteristically, he answered directly and succinctly. And he accepted the premise of this particular question, something he had never done before.

He was asked that if his election effort was unsuccessful, would he try again in '28. He answered simply, with very little emotional valence and virtually no explanation, no. That sounds to me like he's preparing himself for a loss. His new silver coin (which he's selling at a 70% markup) struck Tim Miller and Bill Kristol like a going out of business sale. Trump may simply be exhausted. Let's hope.

Good pod! Trump’s rhetoric reminds of the quote “. that those who seek to ride the back of a tiger, may one day end up inside”.

A friend of mine was talking to her gardening subcontractor last week about a project she has going on-; and during the call, he told her he was supporting Dumpty because "Joe Biden is a Nazi."

Where do they get this backward stuff? Somehow the propaganda channels have convinced the MAGAs that everything that is a lie is the truth. 180 degrees backward.

It's really something when it's that close to home, not on some distant golf course.

Sorry, Janet; that wasn't clear in context. I was just gobsmacked at the "Joe Biden is a Nazi" comment, and I don't know what's worse, the comment itself (probably yeah) or the fact that Joe Biden is no longer running and this idjit apparently hasn't twigged to it yet.

Of course you were teasing me, Janet ;) My deal with these people is that I find it hard to adopt a sympathetic attitude to anyone who believes stark bullshit. It's a little like 19th-century anthropologists studying isolated tribes. The Ohio Diner Reporting Syndrome is inevitably patronizing. I will insist on treating these people like fully self-actualized men and women who _ought_ to know the difference between fact and fiction and if they don't, I won't invent some kind of sociological excuse for them. Bullshit is bullshit and they have agency.

You know, the way Republicans insist on treating criminal defendants ;)

Trumpets is a psycho. He has the evil gene because he's evil. He's sinister, wicked and immoral. His granddaddy was a nazi. His father was a Clansmen, marching with the KKK. And the orange cockroach kept a copy of Mein Kampf at his bedside. His base loves him like they loved hitler.
