Of course, the cliche is true: at some point all American men of a certain age must adopt one of two hobbies. Track one is barbecue mastery. Track two is World War II history. I’m a track two guy.

I wrote about the 80th Anniversary yesterday in Normandy and Doing the Big Things, but I’ve been struggling to speak more eloquently about what the moment means. Let me recommend President Biden’s speech instead. It honors the history of that Day of Days, but it’s also a clarion call to this generation this era. It was a well-spoken, well-delivered speech written with clarity and grace.
