I think I will be more "independent" as the weeks and months go on. A lesson learned long ago imparted by a cat. Animals make sense. Humans, not at all.
Weird 4th vibe this year. Normally, in my area, celebrations (including fireworks) start on the 3rd. This year? Crickets. There is only 1 American flag displayed on my street. We are having the traditional neighborhood BBQ/potluck today but I think it will probably be more subdued than in the past. Maybe it’s cuz donny is signing the police state bill on the birthday of the Republic. Dunno.
No worries. I am not doing July 4th this year and most likely will not be doing the next 3 years. It used to be my absolute favorite holiday, even though I knew it didn't apply to everyone (particularly Native Americans and enslaved Africans and their descendants), but it was a start towards celebrating and ensuring freedom for all who live in this part of the North American continent.
