I'm getting increasingly anxious about whether it is possible to have a free and fair election this November, or ever again for that matter. What can we anticipate regarding further voter suppression tactics? How will the records captured in Fulton County be used? How can we combat theft and/or manipulation of our elections?

Noem, Tulsi, and Pammy Jo are criminals, and are going to discover patriarchy hard realities: They're front-facing for the eventual rug-pull by Trump. Its all fun n games when going their way, but they're disposable.

ICE = Cold-hearted, cold-blooded murderers!! FICE

Your metaphors: “Watching Noem try to pin this on Miller is like watching a leopard solemnly explain that the spots were a gift from a friend” are inspired!

Always like the Friday Brief. And what a week it has been leading up to Friday. Freezing and snowing everywhere. Remembering Renee Good and Alex Pretti for their goodness and bravery. God Bless. Worried about Homan and the underground war he can manufacture. Actually, Rick, so much happening that it makes my remembering it all a bit of a challenge--but I am trying. I do miss your photos. Sorry, but I smiled about the beavers in the pond and the 60-foot tunnel they dug. Yep, we love our wildlife too, but the furry beasts, to put it mildly, can-do lawn damage or even house damage. Reading is a good escape. We have just had a 4 Novel week of snow and extreme cold. 🙃 Thanks for all you do Rick. Best to Renee. Take care.

After reading Dario Amodei's article on AI's "Adolescence" I wouldn't, at any point, be giving the "kid" the car keys.

All the hopes and prayers expressed in his article haven't changed my belief that AI is a land mine disguised as a throw pillow. If that view could be disproved, I would change my mind. It cannot.

Nola Fingmatter's avatar

Agreed on AI - it's being forced on us and if it hasn't already, it will soon get to the point where it's taken over everything.

"The Party is Trump. Trump is the Party." Yes, but in Trump's deteriorating brain, "L'état, c'est moi," or "I am the State. The State is Me."

I just saw this on HuffPost.

Not all bad. After we invade, kill hundreds and plant our flag atop El Capitola, Little Marco will be the Viceroy

"President Trump has signed an executive order declaring Cuba an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to U.S. national security. He says he will impose tariffs on any country that supplies Havana with oil. This comes just weeks after the U.S. capture of Venezuela's authoritarian leader, Nicolas Maduro, during which 32 Cuban military and intelligence officials were killed."

Peter Thiel may have started Palantir, but Alex Karp is and has been the CEO for a good while. He's an interesting guy: son in a progressive family, wrote his PHD dissertation on the Nazi's use of jargon; Stanford lawyer. There are about four youtubes featuring Karp. In the first, he is a bright-eyed idealist. Over the remaining three he gets to where fear governs everything and it's his job to make *them* fear the US. I don't know how he feels now that Team Trump using his products against US citizens. I hope he's not delighted.

The events are too close together. No time to process. News of Lemon’s arrest was so unreal I thought I was reading a week old article. If that phony in the WH stays up all night messaging lies and wacking his doodle, we who live normal lives have no chance to think about almost anything as truth or reality. One reality is no conventional wisdom works. We are untethered from constancy and assumptions that carried us through world wars, civil wars and riots, economic collapses, and political crises.

ICE will take care of those beavers for you. If the protestors are the domestic terrorists, how come they aren't the ones wearing the masks and hiding their identity? Love your writing ,Rick. Keep up the good work. FUCK Trump FUCK ICE

The "everything trump touches dies" rule (ettd) is similar to the "trump anti-Midas rule" (tamr), to wit: everything trump touches turns into gild shit; gilded, yes, but still shit.

"Can they reverse it in time to save 2026? In a word: no"

This is dangerous territory. No one pampers themselves with warm comfy illusions like the Dems. "Late deciders are breaking for Kamala"; "His campaign is collapsing"; "Hegseth/Wiles/Noem will be fired any day".

In order: No, late deciders weren't; no the campaign wasn't; and they're all still on the job

Stop assuming normal. Ward Cleaver ain't walkin' through that door.

Fact: There is an elaborate plan that's been in development for at least a year to steal the election and it's starting to unfold in Atlanta where Gabbard is directing the effort to get ahold of 2020 ballots. Those ballots will be compromised and used to 1) prove he really DID win the election; 2) deserves a 3rd term.; and 3) they'll start arresting people.

And that show will move on to other States; more ballot defacing, more arrests.

Then it gets worse.

Minnesota is Spring Training. They're just workin' out the kinks. Bovino threw a 120 MPH fastball but was wild, so Tom Homan, architect of the child separation policy is brought in. He wears a suit and tie, not fatigues. MUCH better optics. That show will travel to other states, they'll kill more people and arrest more 5 year olds. And eventually our side will snap, someone will throw a brick, a punch, and/or fire a shot. Game over.

Hello Insurrection Act, the obvious next step leading to cancelling the elections.

But we have Chuck and Hakeem

I think you are so correct and I am very scared.

There are a few ways to fix this, but none of them are legal!

Any ideas? The clock is ticking.

Mike's avatar

No ideas except to stay involved. Don't just comment on social media; find a candidate you like, volunteer, register voters.

Best I can come up with

I live in a Blue State with all Democratic legislators and Democratic governor.

I intend to support a younger Senate candidate against the incumbent.

If I find a candidate in another state that I like I can support that one individually.

I will not donate to Act Blue since I don't like the way they use the money.

I'm a retired widow with a decent income. I have already contacted my Senators telling them I'm not impressed with the leadership or lack thereof. Not sure they care.

Nola Fingmatter's avatar

Agreed. The Dems STILL don't understand that this is not a polite policy discussion.

If I hear the word "bipartisan" come out of Hakeem and Chuck's mouth one more time, my 60 inch. 4K pixel, hi def Samsung is gonna meet its maker

Skynet? (OK, I don't watch Terminator movies)

Perhaps VIKI adopts Skynet. (VIKI, from the Will Smith version of I, Robot) (Funny, I don't remember that from reading Asimov in the 1970s) (reading? what's dat?)

"Everything Trump touches dies. It’s an iron law of political physics, as reliable as gravity and twice as cruel."

So sayeth the prophet Sir Isaac Wilson.

Thanks Rick, and good morning.
