Very informative and disturbing. In that same Times interview with Ross Douthat you showed, Peter Thiel implied that Greta Thunberg is the antiChrist! He and Elon Musk, Marc Andreesen, etc., are insane and dangerous. Is there a list somewhere of all their products so we can divest/stop using them?

Cuz... when a system built entirely on words and norms faces an executive who is willing to use physical control and the absolute power of the office (i.e. pardons, etc.) as leverage, the old rules simply do not apply. The handwriting on the wall shows that the traditional guardrails are far more fragile than most people realize...it is a masterclass in using institutional delay and administrative chokepoints to win a fight, regardless of what a judge writes on a piece of paper.

It sounds very frightful. The only way to slow them down would be to have an extremely overwhelming turnout for the election with such a large majority that they would be seen as idiots not to seat the winning representatives of both parties. However, even that might not discourage Speaker Johnson. I will pray.
I’m so happy you platformed Gil Duran and his important book. I pre-ordered it ages ago and read it immediately. For me it’s a relief to not be yelling into the wilderness about this any longer. I live in SV and have lost friends because I can’t help bringing up the topic of techno-fascism. (I’m super fun at parties, I know). They need everyone to believe their project is inevitable. It is NOT. Thanks for getting the word out.
All of these tech bros sound like emotionally and intellectually stunted adolescents with king-of-the-world/you're-not-the-boss-of me fantasies, but the danger is that they're grown men who've been dropped into a culture that worships the rich and famous. It's the same kind of wealth = worth crap that the Ayn Rand cultists like Paul Ryan were pushing back in the day. Ryan's stated view that was that our society was made up of 'makers versus takers'; we all know he thought the political and corporate elite were the 'makers' - the only ones worthy of privilege and power. Well, it seems to me the tech bros have bought into a new Randism with themselves as the only noble, worthy people deserving of great wealth and privilege - and also that they should rule the world. That's why they talk openly, often gleefully, about AI not only taking all our jobs but wiping out 'useless' humanity - in much the same way that vulture capitalists swooped in, took over companies, dumped the jobs, strip mined the value, then left the hulks to rot in bankruptcy.
The backlash against data centers and the AI surveillance state they power is just beginning, IMO. People are starting to realize that using social networks at the cost of handing over all their personal information is dangerous, especially as it provides the building blocks of the surveillance state. The joke memes about welcoming our tech overlords are turning out not to be so funny after all. Where a politician stands on data centers, AI surveillance, and protecting our personal information will be the next 'do you take dark PAC money' test. Watch for it.

What do you think about what Judge Luttig said on his Substack about how Mike Johnson could refuse to seat Democrats after the midterms?

I'm very much looking forward to reading this book. It does seem to encapsulate what the fuck is going on in our country right now
