The trump is despicable but it is the no longer Supreme Court that has destroyed this country.

The first mini coup de grace took place years ago with Citizens United and the second with Elon Musk bankrolling the Dolt’s presidential campaign.

For the preamble, please see Buckley v. Valeo, (Sen. James L. Buckley). That's the case that paved the Citizens decision.

$20 million for Robert’s family buys a lot of decisions I think.

In a country of Trumps, be a Zelenskyy. Also, “taking the high road is just the scenic route to the graveyard.” You never disappoint!

As voting increasingly no longer matters and more and more people have nothing left to lose, blue states are going to start leaving this set up one way or the other: California will be the first to go, many on both coasts will follow. All the Republicans are doing with this shit is hastening the end of the USA and the end will not be pretty.for anyone. At 75, I am sorry I lived long enough to see this coming. Ironic that the final nail in the coffin came in the 250th year of the country.

maga, the plutocrats, and their politician minions have declared political war on the People and the Republic. They no longer have any legitimacy of being considered true citizens of our nation.

On a certain level, I am glad that SCROTUS has shown their entire hand. We can no longer delude ourselves there is anything credible about where they stand with regards to our country. This ruling combines the Dred Scott and Plessy decisions with the equivalent of when the Nazis invaded Poland after all the waffling and appeasement leading up to that event. Now it's our turn to reclaim our dignity and our democracy - for ourselves, our families, our ancestors, and for the generations to come.

We have everything we need to rid ourselves of this scourge of treason from our government - the skills, resources, vision, and direction. The open question is do we have the will and courage to step into the moment. I believe that we do. We simply need to embrace our responsibilities not just for the 2026 midterm elections but every election in the future.

Time to kick them in the jaw while they still have their dicks in their mouths.

Thank you for this important article, Mr. Wilson. I always thought Justice Roberts was an institutionalist. I was indeed incorrect especially two years ago when Alex Wagner pointed out in Propublica had done an extensive investigation on Justice Thomas. The court needs to be expanded when democrats get in or Justice Thomas needs to be impeached. Unfortunately we have to get reforms in from the big mess this administration has made with every single part of this administration. Please tell your bride my female cat loves the , YouTube you did yesterday. Thanks Rick: Jeez, The voting rights act wiped out with the stroke of a pen. The mid term and the 2028 elections are the most important elections ever "If you don't vote like hell , you won't have a country anymore" They can gerrymander the hell out of the country , but if every one voted blue , democracy may prevail. Keep dreaming Al

I'm sure I made myself an insufferable bore in 2016 pleading with the hundreds of people I heard say "I don't like Hillary" to please, please, please, consider the supreme court nominations that are almost certainly to happen in the coming four years. All the reasons: She'll give money to Israel. She's too Establishment. She takes money from X. I don't like her voice. I just don't like her. How many stayed home or threw their vote away on Jill Stein or cartoon characters? Millions. I vividly remember one particularly endearing moment on my part in which I told a 23-year-old woman that the Heritage Foundation will pick judges in their 40s to sit on that bench, and those people will be up in her business until she's in menopause. And here we are. I have an ego like anyone else, but there are moments like this when I would love nothing more than to be wrong.

It's tough to stave off despair. There isn't a single aspect or institution of the Republic that isn't being dismantled, burned or twisted into evil by the people who have seized (and increasingly cement) power in the US. Damage in every direction: A mad, God-King president, put beyond the reach of law and accountability. Clean Air Act nullified. Voting Rights Act nullified. Alliances destroyed. Military purged and brain-drained. Free media attacked and consolidated. Education gutted. CDC gutted, leaving the door wide open for the next viral death angel. Heavily armed, masked Gestapo in our streets. Etc. I'm increasingly unable to see a future path that avoids truly horrific violence and catastrophe.

There are dozens of players in this tragedy who have done their part to make it such, going all the way back to Newt Gingrich and beyond. But if you put a gun to my head and told me to name one person who bears the greatest responsibility for the lamentable situation we're in, it would be John Roberts. His signature is directly or indirectly on every awful thing I named above. I can't say with any certainty that there is a Hell, but for that man, there should be.

It is so hard not to give in to total despair every day.

People marched and actually died to get the Voter's Rights Act passed and today with a stroke of the pen the Supreme Court gutted it!

The Federalist Society would have us all believe that the 'Founders' were all Federalists and that the Federalist Papers were gospel. Propaganda to sell the concept, certainly not gospel. I'm sure they'll want to amend the history books to eliminate any perception that a sizeable portion of the Founders were Anti-Federalists. Perhaps even declare Washington's stepping down from office as the act of a foolish man (the rest of the world was amazed, BTW). But the Federalist Society does deny any ideas, including ones by the Federalist Founders, that interfere with their Pogrom.
