The GOP is out of options

There’s an article rocking the GOP world today that I commend to your attention: Politico’s Jonathan Martin wrote If Republicans Want to Win, They Need Trump to Lose — Big and Signal, email, and text chains exploded across the extended GOP universe.

He’s exactly right. I want to expand on it here, but please read his article first.

Martin puts the deeply held belief that only Trump’s political death will save the professional and elected Republican class into stark relief. They know it. They feel it. They see future electoral despair if they don’t…and MAGA political terrorism and pain if they do.

Of course, many of his sources are still off the record for all the usual reasons - fear of MAGA anger, threat of painful deaths at the hands of a mob, incurring Fox-driven hits on RINOs — but the argument and the window into the slowly breaking case of Stockholm Syndrome in the professional, donor, consultant, and elected class is remarkable.
