The reason Trump is losing on immigration is because when most people hear the word 'immigration' these days, they don't think of migrants coming over the border. They think of roving bands of masked secret police assaulting protesters, invading people's homes without valid warrants, and murdering American citizens in cold blood - with zero accountability.
People have changed their opinions on immigration as a DIRECT result of Trump's actions. That's also why he's losing on inflation and the cost of the living. His own actions are tanking his polls. And he's caught in a trap of his own making because he's too narcissistic to admit he's wrong and change direction.
Because the MAGA cult that makes up the republican base demands it. Anyone who utters the slightest criticism of Dear Leader finds themselves in the MAGA cross hairs.

People who are losing their farms still support him. And I'd bet a whole lotta Hispanics who are seeing their neighbors disappeared still support him. "He won't get me". And then there's a knock at the door.

I know the “Spend more time with my family” trope gets disparaged, but I think it is definitely a factor for a lot of people, especially if they have barely met their grandchildren like this guy.
