When You Come At The King with Elie Honig
My latest episode of The Lincoln Project podcast
Elie Honig joins me to cut through the legal fog and talk about When You Come at the King—a brutal look at how presidents push, bend, and sometimes break the law to suit their own ambitions. Nixon tried to bury Watergate. Reagan played cute with Iran-Contra. Clinton lied about a cigar. But Donald J. Trump? He bulldozed the rules, claimed presidential immunity like a mob boss flashing a get-out-of-jail-free card, and handed America the biggest expansion of executive power in a century. Elie and I dig into how Trump’s shamelessness warped the system, blew up legal norms, and left the country asking whether presidential accountability is dead—or just on life support.

trump is a criminal! He’s a conman and a grifter!
If Nixon had the current Supreme Court, those White House tapes would have never seen the light of day. That's one HUGE difference between then and now: republicans and the Court willing to hold a president accountable to the law versus republicans and Court doing the president's bidding. We can't excuse all the enablers of Trump who've brought us to our current state.
