The fact that he took the meeting at all demonstrates he is not qualified to be the Speaker we need. We need a warrior. We need someone who is willing to torch their future lobbying prospects in order to save this country. I don't know yet who that might be, but we need them. Just like in 2028 we will need a President who will appoint Jack Smith as AG and let him FLY.

Listening to Representative Jeffries' post-Kushner video assuring listeners that he will make targeting Trump administration corruption a top priority should the Democrats take the House is like standing in the shoes of a spouse whose cheating partner swears they'll never do it again. It's not clear whether he understands that his problem is the loss of trust, at the very least in his judgment if not also in his values, skill set, and principles.

In another article I read, Jefferies also said he was against medicare for all. I think that's a no win for him, I know it is for me. It's way past time Americans got some benefit from the government and not just more tax and tariffs.
Jefferies quite clearly believes he is smarter than the average bear and can't be trapped because his political genius won't allow it. Schumer isn't much different; he ignores voices in his own caucus if their viewpoints conflict with his world view that candidates made of oatmeal are what the people want. These guys are thoroughly convinced that because they are smarter than Trump, because everyone is, no one in his circle can play, trick, or otherwise outmaneuver them. What they don't get and thank you Rick (!), is the people they think they can hold in check are evil. That's a different battle altogether.
I do not trust the motives behind leaking this meeting. Is it more of the “ both sides” approach that helped Trump win the election? I heard that Haberman saidshe doesn’t see a problem with Jeffries talking to Kushner. In that case, does she see a problem with the unelected son in law with great governmental powers? She is also the one who has been saying she sees no signs of mental decline in Trump.
Thank you, Rick for taking on this fight. Hakeem Jefferies does not deserve to be leader what he did was disgraceful and against everything we want to change. There better be rallying to put his speakership in the trash bin. He’s not a leader, like you say we need fighters we need people are going to hold people to account. No more my esteemed colleague. This reminds me of two situations. Romney after the first Trump election (after denigrating Trump for months) gets caught having dinner at Trump International Hotel, groveling for a job in the administration—it leaked to the media and Romney looked like the fool he is.
And of course, Jeff Bezos after refusing to endorse Harris in the election (Washington Post)—and claiming it had nothing to do with currying favor with Trump, yet has his Blue Origin CEO David Limp and VP of government relations Megan Mitchell meet with Trump at a campaign event in Austin, Texas days later—again leaked to the press.
This is exactly who Trump is—a petty, vindictive man who must always exact his pound of flesh, while humiliating and debasing anyone who crosses him—and that’s how he treats the people he likes!….:)
Jeffries is an embarrassment to the D party. It’s time for a change. Big corporate money has both Jeffries and as continue mentioned, Schumer. Time for them yo move on.
