Allow me to restate the question for relevant clarity:

"Will Media Journalism (or Legacy Journalism, shoutout to milbank) survive MAGA?"

Nope. Nope-er. Nope-a-doodle-dandy. It's dead, Jim, errr Rick. Trump and MAGA didn't even kill it, that deed was well underway 15 or so years ago with the rapid social and tech changes and the shift of eyeballs away from TV and then cable.

Suits with fancy MBAs rose the ranks in the then-media companies and identified that purely profit-driven objectives 'dictated' the maximizing of Entertainment and the ultimate jettisoning of news. The latter is messy, expensive, and doesn't carry the guaranteed eyeballs it did in... 1975. Moreover, it's controversial and is the target of the powerful, and they care not a whit about 'holding the powerful to account'. How quaint, and such a stupid objective for a money-maximizing corporation. So fuck it, not worth holding on to that albatross.

The attacks from Trump and MAGA only sped the process up, but not even by much.

Here's another question.

Will "Legacy Journalism" survive Paramount, ABC, etc., paying off Trump's extortion demands?

If they don’t stand up, we will destroy them. Period. Americans of ALL parties are sick of the corruption. We can unite around something like this.

Media collapse is wider and deeper than I ever imagined it wd be.

The once legit, important sources diminished greatly. Fox was a known cesspool, but over the last few years we’ve watch the NYT and WaPo and LA Times immolate; now CBS, one of the greatest legacy news organizations in our history: Murrow, Cronkite, Rather, 60 Minutes, and more. Now on their way out the door

I don’t see any of these institutions ever coming back

Here’s a message to mainstream media that they’ll understand. Refuse to dig into this coverup and you’ll loose your audience, both sides.

From your lips to the deaf ears of the powers that be. This is the eye of the hurricane. Will they or won’t they fail us? I have no faith in mainstream journalism. The moneylenders bought them and we’re all going to hell, handbasket optional. “Killing The Press: Russia’s Early Red Flags” was bleak. I miss Walter Cronkite. I liked him better than Huntley & Brinkley, but I was the channel changer not the channel chooser. We didn’t have no stinkin’ remote control. We didn’t have a color tv until 1970. RIP Walter Cronkite and Huntley & Brinkley 📺 ✨🌀🚨🙏🚨📰🚨🗞️🚨💫

My parents didn’t get a color TV until after I left for college! They hated me. . . NO! JUST JOKING! It is true about Coming home for Christmas after my freshman year in 1974 to an RCA color TV console. "Console." A 20th century word lost to the ages.

Yep, spent my whole "yute" watching black and white TV. . . .

And we did it in our barefoot!

("OK, Boomer", right?)

I have no faith in either broadcast or print journalism. They keep trying to smooth out the rough edges of this authoritarian takeover. I canceled my newspaper, Time magazine and no longer watch corporate news. They've let the public down. They need to pay a price for their acquiescence.
