Rick, very much agree with your 'marching orders' to push locally and hard with elected officials at all levels. But where my discomfort/anxiety/paranoia comes from is understanding if there's any way back from Musk's influence on the levers of government. With access to virtually all the databases that control voting, taxation, awarded contracts, how does THAT particular genie go back into the bottle. Even if Trump cuts him loose, is it catastrophizing to muse about WHAT Musk will do with the seized info? Can you cover this with people who actually understand data and manipulation and walling off access?

If you cut defense spending 8 percent per year for 5 years, it takes defense spending to about 65 percent of today's spending. If you add in inflation running at 2 percent that is a 10 percent cut every year for 5 years, getting closer to 50 % of today's spending.
To what end?
Well, if you are wanting to have the essential country that has stood for the defense of democracy and rule of law against tyrants to back down and run away from tyrants, this is the way to do it.
