Great talk Rick, thank you.

What measures should be taken to insure the Speaker of the House seats those we elect?

It seems the Dem Coalition should be taking steps now to replace him with someone who follows US Law?!

Otherwise we’re heading into a treasonous reality show of Trump’s choosing.

What do you recommend Rick?

Thank you for the excellent podcast. White Christian Nationalism has tried to destroy our way of life. What you have presented to us Mr. Wilson is so true. After January 2027 we must hold people accountable for trying to destroy our democracy and our country.

I've spent a lot of time overseas in the past decade, and have experienced the well-meaning pity of our allies and friends. I winch, because of what our country has done to itself. We used to always be big-man-on-campus, but no more. Now we're viewed as the crazy old codger who shouldn't drive a car anymore. I'll do what I can to flip the equation with the mid-terms, but there's a lot of damage already done to reputation and institutions.

Thanks, Rick: Really enjoyed your rap in the cab. It seems every nation has a bit of rot festering in the background. Hell, we had a man of the Trump ilk who ran in the last Canadian federal election. Pierre Poilievre, calling out "Canada first," is the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. Fortunately, Donald Trump endorsed him, and the folks voted for Carney, a Liberal. Thanks, Donald.

Wonderful piece Rick. We have to hear and accept the reality that we are a diminished country.

I love and appreciate your honesty that it’s going to take decades of hard work to re-establish the U.S. reputation. I wonder also, if what the U.S. transforms into, is not a superpower, but something else entirely. I’m thinking of how Finland and other Scandinavian countries polled, have the happiest people.

I don’t know what the future holds, but we have to face the reality that America is no longer the leader of the free world.

Rick this is the best show you’ve ever done. I love London as well. So here is my concern 🙁 I’m deeply concerned about the division in the Democratic Party. It concerns the AIPAC situation. Electing inferior Dem candidates to run against MAGA. I don’t support what Israel is doing on any level. I hate Netenjahu. I’m against the genocide etc. But this bunch are going to turn against people like Jon Ossoff😳. Yes everyone has taken AIPAC money. It’s time to stop, but choosing inferior candidates to run against MAGA is friggin DUMB.

Absolutely on target: we CANNOT put this behind us. Memory is short and imperfect, and that would place us in danger of coming back to this tyrannical place quickly. For an analysis of how to move forward, I’d recommend Susan Neiman’s book, “Learning From the Germans,” which offers a scholarly look at how Germany reshaped itself after World War II.

As for Trump’s love affair with Putin, I absolutely believe Putin possesses knowledge of Trump’s dealings with Epstein. Until this regime produces documentation to prove that wrong, I’m sticking with my story.

I hope our friends in the UK take what they're seeing here as a cautionary tale and realize that it could happen there, too, if they're not vigilant. We have a lot of work ahead of us to de-MAGAfy this country, and it won't happen in just one election cycle. The empire WILL strike back. MAGAs will try to retake power. It's our job to crush them in the midterms and keep crushing them until that movement dies. Then we need to stake it through the heart and salt the earth so it can't rise again.

It's always harder to clean up a problem than it is to prevent one. I hope our UK friends take that to heart.

Yes! Love this quote, and it sums up our situation perfectly.

The optimism that seems lost and why pity and not pride seems the feeling of our time will return only if a new administration takes over and remains in place. Two or three national election cycles are needed before the mojo fully returns. That means Democratic Party leadership. With all its factions and intraparty arguments, the Democrats present the most significant bulwark against the outright discontent the Republicans offer. Republicans reject balance, compromise, and tolerance that is necessary for a viable society.
